No-Shows Accelerate My Countdown
Aspects refreshed Mar 01, 2026
When the Chaintrix first initialized its 16 movie simulations, early players discovered they could extend leagues indefinitely by refusing to finish rounds. The system responded by encoding Runtime Sovereignty into its core architecture—a temporal lock that forces every simulation to reach its ending, whether players survive to see it or get cut before the final reel.
Runtime Sovereignty manifests as magnetic tape unspooling from an invisible reel, its speed fluctuating based on collective player performance—accelerating during no-shows, slowing during championship rounds. A countdown timer burns permanently into the lower-right corner of every simulation frame, clicking down in Blockbuster-gold numerals. Theater marquee letters physically rotate and click with each passing minute, their mechanical sound echoing across all 16 simulations simultaneously.
Runtime Sovereignty serves as the Chaintrix's pacing editor, cutting simulations short when players fail to honor their commitment and rolling extended credits for leagues that deliver blockbuster performances.

Born when the Chaintrix tried to reboot eternity, Tag #19: Runtime Sovereignty is the arena’s original buzzkill. Forged in the static of unfinished leagues, it enforces closure with the patience of a theater manager at closing time. It doesn’t care if you’re still throwing—when the reel ends, the house lights come up. No refunds. No encores. Just the relentless tick of Blockbuster gold counting down your minutes. It’s not evil. It’s contractually binding.
adjusts headset Tonight on The Culling: Nic Bode, league newcomer and part-time spreadsheet janitor, accidentally signs in at the wrong kiosk—and suddenly, Tag #19: Runtime Sovereignty latches on like a disgruntled timekeeper. The marquee clicks to life. The tape unspools. And for the first time in simulation history, the arena feels… punctual. Was it fate? Or just a firmware glitch? Either way—Nic’s got a date with closure.
