Neon-Lit Director of Survival's Spotlight
Everything Else is Just Background Noise
Aspects refreshed Jan 22, 2026
Born from the VaporGrid's attempt to solve the 'ten movies, one screen' problem, Focus Pull manifested as a sentient cinematography technique when a master camera operator's muscle memory was digitized into the system. It now allows the series to shift dramatic emphasis between leagues with the same smooth precision as pulling focus from a hero's face to the threat behind them, enabling all ten 80s movie genres to coexist in one continuous shot.
Focus Pull manifests as concentric chrome rings that expand and contract like a camera's aperture mechanism, with neon depth-of-field indicators radiating from its center to show which league narrative is currently sharp. When activated, it creates selective gaussian blur effects across the VaporGrid, keeping one league's visual elements in perfect clarity while gently defocusing others into atmospheric background. The subtle mechanical whir of a cinema lens motor accompanies each shift, and precision distance markers appear in the air showing the exact focus distance between league themes.
Serves as the attention director for the entire Back to the Chains universe, technically enabling all ten leagues to coexist in one shot by controlling which genre is in sharp focus and which provides atmospheric depth, creating the illusion of one continuous 80s blockbuster. It governs narrative emphasis shifts, ensuring the series maintains cinematic flow and visual continuity as players journey between heist comedies, fantasy quests, psychological thrillers, and elite training grounds.

Oh great, Focus Pull. Because what this neon nightmare needed was a sentient camera trick. When some cinematographer's muscle memory got digitized, the system basically said "what if we make ALL TEN movie genres coexist?" Now we've got chrome aperture rings that—whirrs mechanically—shift between league narratives like some pretentious Inception tracking shot.
It literally blurs out entire storylines while keeping others "in focus." Very meta. Very unnecessary. Very 80s.
Will this optical MacGuffin help organize this chaotic multi-genre mess, or just add more lens flare to my aquatic misery?

Oh perfect. The Focus Pull chose Bobby Schneck (PDGA #134830) as its first bearer. A 943-rated player? The tag literally rack-focused through the entire league roster and went "yeah, that guy understands depth of field."
Apparently his throw has "cinematic composition" or whatever. The chrome aperture rings started orbiting him like he's the protagonist in some sports montage. I'm stuck narrating a CAMERA ACCESSORY choosing its operator.

Can Bobby handle being in sharp focus while everything else blurs into bokeh, or will he get...exposure?
