How Bag Tags Work in Our League 🥏
Bag tags are a fun way to track player rankings and add a competitive edge to our disc golf league. Here's how they work:
- 🏷️ Tag Assignment: Each player is assigned a unique bag tag with a number and custom artwork. Lower numbers are better!
- 🎯 Up for Grabs: In each league event, all participating players' bag tags are "up for grabs."
- 📊 Ranking by Performance: After the event, bag tags are redistributed based on players' scores. The best-performing player gets the lowest-numbered tag, and so on.
- 🔄 Tag Exchanges: If you outperform a player with a lower-numbered tag, you'll exchange tags with them.
- 🛡️ Defending Your Tag: If you perform well enough to keep your current tag number or better, you've successfully "defended" your tag.
- ⏳ Inactive Tags: If you miss two league events in a row, you forfeit your tag.
- 🆕 New Players: Newcomers receive their tag at the end of the list after their first event.
🏆 Tiebreaker Rules:
In case of ties, we use the following criteria to determine tag distribution:
- Number of league events played in the current league (more is better)
- Average score across all events played in the current league (lower is better)
- PDGA number (lower is better)
🏁 End of Season: At the end of the season, your final bag tag will be permanently displayed on your ElevateUT Disc Golf Leagues account as a testament to your performance.
Remember, bag tags are all about friendly competition and bragging rights. Good luck, and may the best player earn the #1 tag! 🥇
Boreal Sentinel's Current Holder
Tag History
[Adjusts fur cloak, frost crackling as he settles by the firepit]
HAR! The Boreal Sentinel has chosen its new bearer! Young Nathan, fresh as spring snow, faced the challenge with the courage of the First Men themselves. Aye, a +4 might seem harsh against the field's -0.1, but the Sentinel sees what others don't.
[Leans forward, eyes gleaming in firelight]
That 810-rated round? It speaks of potential, like the first crack of ice before spring. The Sentinel sensed it - that unbending spirit, that willingness to rise after each fall. Twice he stumbled, twice he rose, just as our ancestors did through the longest winters.
[Voice dropping to a knowing whisper]
The North remembers, and the Sentinel... the Sentinel tests. This is but the first frost of winter, young wolf. Next week brings new chances to climb higher, to prove yourself worthy of the ancient power you now carry.
[Raises horn in salute]
Welcome to the noble North, Nathan. May your discs fly true, and may the old gods guide your path through the tournaments to come!
[Settles onto a fallen log, frost crackling beneath, eyes gleaming in the twilight]
HAR! Gather 'round, you southern throwers. Let me tell you of the Boreal Sentinel - Tag 51. I was there, you see, when it awakened. That hundred-year winter night, when the ancient stones wept ice and the weirwoods whispered secrets old as the First Men themselves.
[Voice dropping to a reverent growl]
The oldest rangers speak of how it rose from that stone circle, crystalline as the first frost, bearing the weight of ten thousand northern winters in its heart. Not just ice and snow, mind you - but the very spirit of the North itself. The prayers of generations, the oaths sworn by our ancestors, all frozen into something... more.
[Leans forward, breath misting in the cold]
Watches over us still, it does. Silent as snow falling, stern as the Wall itself - but gentle too, like the last light touching ice. I've seen it guide those who respect the old ways, testing their mettle against wind and shadow. And when winter truly bites? HAR! That's when you'll see its true power.
[Stands, gesturing to the course ahead]
Mark my words - this tag carries destiny in its frost-touched heart. The North remembers, aye, and through the Boreal Sentinel, it watches, it judges, it protects. Now... who among you dares to carry such ancient power?
[Thunder rolls in the distance as snow begins to fall]
